The Shed

Based in Somerset, The Shed is my home workshop purpose built to house my projects combining traditional craft and advanced manufacturing. Equipped for additive, subtractive, and transformative processes, it serves as a testing ground for iterative engineering and intricate handmade works.

Additive Manufacturing

Voron Trident 350mm

A 3D printer on a blue and orange workbench with a red floor in the background.

Serial VT.2099 with a 350x350x300mm build volume. Enclosed on all sides to maintain the thermal stability required for large format printing of high temperature polymers like ABS and ASA.

Voron EnderWire

A partially assembled 3D printer on a workbench with various components and tools around it.

Ender 3 to Switchwire conversion, serial VS.887, used as a testing platform for upgrades and modifications as a basis for tinkering with hopes to implement ideas to further machines.

Bambu A1

A 3D printer on a worktable in a laboratory setting, with a blue build surface, surrounded by wires and components.

Equipped with a 256mm cubed print area, this printer is utilised for rapid prototyping and non functional parts.

Prusa MK3S

The image shows a 3D printer on a desk with its build platform in the foreground. The 3D printer has a black frame with orange components, and some wires and electronic parts are visible. The brand name "PRUSA" is engraved on the top frame of the printer.

Maintained as a reliable system specifically tuned for TPU printing.

Bambu A1 Mini

A laboratory setup with a bamboo lab 3D printer on a white surface, a computer monitor, and various cables. The background features a wood-paneled wall with some holes.

Compact and high speed, used for small scale testing and production of secondary parts that do not require a full sized build plate.

Metalworking

2×48 Belt Sander

Tools and machinery on a workbench including a blue machine with silver rollers, a white electrical plug, and various small metal parts.

A custom built belt sander with 40mm box section for the arms and laser cut profiles for the body. Completed with a 1.5KW motor on a VFD for speed control.

Pillar Drill

A workshop drill press mounted on a workbench with various tools and equipment surrounding it.

A Draper D16 pillar drill with a 3 to 16mm chuck for accurate holes, tapping, and reaming of printer parts and metal assemblies.

Forge & Anvil

Propane forge and 72kg anvil used for traditional blacksmithing and heat treatment of custom tools.

Woodworking

3018 CNC

A partially assembled CNC machine with various electronic components, wires, and cardboard pieces on a white work surface in a workshop.

An upgraded 3018 CNC machine featuring HGR20 rails on the X axis, and an extended Z axis with a brushless DC motor spindle. Used mainly for light milling of woods and non-ferrous metals.

Motorised FretSaw

Used for detailed profile cutting in wood and soft plastics.

A wall-mounted organization of various hand tools including screwdrivers, a saw, a hammer, a wrench, and a hacksaw.

The Shed is supported by a full range of hand tools and manual equipment from hammers to chisels, and soldering irons to block planes. Providing the necessary tools for every project.
